The Texas "No Fly Zone"

The Texas Legislature was set to pass a law that the TSA could not pat you down (which IS unconstitutional) at airports.  The Feds told Texas that if they did that, the Feds would close all of the airports in Texas (declare a no-fly zone) and not send any more money (most of it yours). 

A “No Fly Zone!  Are they kidding?  No Fly Zones I thought were reserved for Iraq and Libya.

Texas caved, dammit.  I wonder what would have happened if Texas had told the Feds “close our airports and we will turn off the oil, gas, coal, gas taxes collected, wheat, cotton, petrochemicals, etc. and we will secede.

Oil Company Subsidies

Now the gutless wonders of Congress want to cut “subsidies” to oil companies. The biggest subsidy they are talking about is the oil depletion allowance.  This allowance is not money paid from the treasury like the bank bailouts or the money paid to farmers, this is simply revenue the IRS did not collect because it is a tax credit.  Now let’s think about this.  Farmers get paid by check, (REAL money!) for not planting crops (farming the mail box), every business gets to take depreciation (depletion allowance) on cars, trucks, desks, fax machines, buildings, computers, etc.  The difference is that farm land is still usable, as are desks, buildings, fax machines, etc. But OIL, once pumped to the surface and refined, is gone forever!  For every barrel of oil pumped, the company is a barrel of oil closer to putting itself out of business. Now consider the fact that without a tax credit (depletion allowance) the cost to produce a barrel of oil rises dramatically. Guess who is going to pay for that?  We are of course..again.

An additional $5 billion in new, annual taxes — similar to what’s been proposed by the Administration, or some in Congress —could actually decrease cumulative government revenue by $128 billion by 2025 according to an economic analysis by Wood Mackenzie. And even worse, higher taxes could result in the loss of tens of thousands of jobs between now and 2025. Right around the corner, in 2014 alone, we’d lose 170,000 of these jobs.

There is a better way than saddling a troubled economy with new taxes and fees that hurt consumers and workers. The oil and natural gas industry should be allowed to develop the vast energy resources that belong to the American people. If we open areas that are currently off-limits to development, we could create more than 500,000 jobs throughout the economy and generate an additional $150 billion in government revenue by 2025.

Note: Sen. Harry Reid wants to cut the “subsidy” for oil companies but wants to keep the subsidy that pays for the Cowboy Poetry Festival in Nevada. HUH?

What a week! Uncle Sam finally got Bin Laden, great job Seal Team 6! Now here come all of apologists.

The code work “Geronimo” has offended the American Indians. I guess we could have used “Banzai” but that would piss off the Japs. We could have used “blitzkrieg” and pissed off the Germans. We could have used “good show” and pissed off the Brits. We could have used “sho-nuff” and pissed off the blacks or “Viva Estados Unidos” and pissed off the Mexicans. The list is endless. I guess it is better to piss off a few thousand Indians than a few million of the others.

Another thing that has come up is the use of “enhanced” interrogation” techniques.  The question has been, “Is this (enhanced interrogation) humane?”  If these procedures work, use them. If it saves an American life, use it, if the UN doesn’t like it, use it more!

Now the UN wants to investigate the killing of OBL. What? This is the group that puts

Iran heading up the Human Rights council.  Give me a break!  We were not nice. No fair trial. Tough shit!  He got the same type of trial that 3000 other people got on 9/11.  Any questions?

Crock of Crap # 1 -Global Warming:

It ain’t happening.  Scientists admit to manipulating the data to fit the desired result.  E-mails obtained confirm it. Ice core drilling in Greenland, Iceland, the Arctic and Antarctic suggests that the earth naturally undergoes heating and cooling cycles every few thousand years.  If the ice cap is melting, as some say it is, then why are the sea levels DECREASING?  If the earth is warming and the ice is melting, why were airplanes that crash landed in WWII in Greenland found under 300 ft. of ice?  Should they not have been sitting above the ice?  Why was this winter one of the worst (more snow and sub-freezing temps) since records have been kept?  Al Gore and his buddies are simply cashing in on the hysteria and the lies propagated by the UN.

Crock of Crap #2 - Cap and Trade (aka Cap and Tax)

Global Warming ties directly to “cap and trade”.  Earth is supposedly heating up so cut greenhouse gasses or tax them (i.e.: carbon emission permits).  The truth is that it is OK to put as much crap in the air as you want to as long as you are willing to pay for it.  The Kyoto Treaty (sponsored by the U.N.) basically said that everyone would cut carbon emissions.  The USA did not sign it and with good reason.  The huge carbon emitters such as Zimbabwe, Sudan, Ethiopia and such wanted to sell their permits to pollute to the USA while China, Russia, India, and the like laughed their collective asses off because they had to do nothing to break the back of the US economy.  As of right now, the Chicago Board of Trade (among others) has a trading desk for these permits.  Organized crime has already infiltrated these markets and there are several investigations going on, mostly in Europe.

NOTE: The U.S. Congress is considering taxing the flatulence from cows.  A COW FART TAX!  Of course, the farmer pays the tax (as they do in parts of Europe and Scandinavia), and you, the consumer pay for all of this at the market. Enjoy your steak.

Crock of Crap #2 - Gas Prices

Wish I had said that:  “If you voted for Obummer in 2008 to prove you weren’t a racist, you’ll have to vote for someone else in 2012 to prove you’re not an idiot.”

Gas prices today are a result of several factors. Among these are the failure of the Department of Energy to do its’ mandated job, failure to allow the development of domestic fuel sources, Federal monetary policies, and speculation in the commodity market.  Let’s have a look.

1. Lack of a US energy policy. Oh please!  Jimmy Carter set up the US Department

of Energy to get the USA off its dependence on foreign oil.  When the Arabs (OPEC) cut off imports in the 70’s, the U.S. imported about 30% off its oil. But today we import about 60% of our oil.  We had a windfall profits tax, different prices for “old oil” and “new oil”, and EPA regulations that would choke a horse.  Yet, to this day we discourage domestic production.  Had the DOE done its’ job, we would be importing NO OIL today!

The Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) holds great promise, but yet the tree huggers raise hell about drilling there.  If ANWR were the size of the continental USA, the area in ANWR proposed for drilling is about the size of Rhode Island.  The wildlife adapt and there are no trees to hug. Drill!

There are drilling leases in New Mexico that are not being explored because of a damned lizard.  The animal lovers insist that this lizard “might be” affected by having to crawl over disturbed earth and pipelines. I grew up among the lizards in West Texas and I have seen them everywhere man has been. On oil leases, on pipelines, on paved roads, on dirt roads, on well sites, on trash cans, in alleyways, on brick fences and on the sides of houses.  The hawks kill more lizards that man does. Folks, if you do not step on them or shoot them, they will be fine. Drill!

2. Fed monetary policy is killing us. All commodities are priced in US dollars. The Fed needed money for debt service, Obummer’s heath care bill, bailouts, buying car companies, and all the imaginary “shovel ready” projects. What did they do? The Fed just fired up the presses and printed more money! Imagine the dollar is a piece of a pie. The pie has 10 slices and sells for $10.00.  Your slice of the pie is therefore is worth a dollar. Now here comes the geniuses at the Fed and from nowhere doubles the number of pie slices (dollars). Since each slice is now ½ the original size, your dollar (slice) is worth ½ of what it was.  There are two choices.  The pie must now sell for $20 dollars to maintain the original value of your slice or continue to sell the pie for $10.00 and accept that your slice is now worth $0.50 cents.

Speaking of the Fed, why were banks that were in trouble were told to simply add some zeroes to their balance sheets at the Fed!  They did not even bother to print any money!  I wish I could simply add some zeroes to MY bank account balances!  While on the subject, why in the hell is our National Federal Bank (with your dollars) making loans in the billions to foreign banks?

3. Misguided “Energy" Experts

            Well folks, we are sitting on a sea of energy. Oil, gas and coal are abundant. It

would be easy (and relatively cheap) to convert fuel burning cars and coal fired generating plants to natural gas.  We have more energy than all of the Middle East combined, yet we send billions to our no so friendly friends.  The Obummer administration has made it impossible to look for new sources while giving subsidies to “green energy” companies.  (By the way, if wind, solar, electric cars are such a great deal, why do they need subsidies?  If these ideas were worth a damn, private enterprise would already be doing it and for less money.)

Also, the Obummer Energy Secretary Chu has stated he would like to see gas at $10.00 per gallon or at least on par with Europe ($5-$6 per gallon) so people would be forced to use these “green” technologies.  We have this week heard that speculators are driving the price of crude upwards. They certainly contribute to the problem but the solution is simple according to an economist at TCU. Simply make the speculators take delivery of the oil.  Speculators are simply buying a contract that they will sell later.  The speculators would be gone overnight and the price of crude oil drops dramatically.

So there you have it. The failure of the Dept. of Energy to do it’s mandated job, Obummer’s anti domestic oil policies, the Fed’s monetary policies and speculators that bid the price up only because they are really greedy bastards that trade paper, not real oil.
